I'm a 47-year-old mom from Austin, Texas, who finally figured out how to work WITH my body instead of against it after 40.

As a mom of two teenagers, part-time marketing consultant, and former couch potato turned 5K runner, I understand the struggles and joys of this phase in life. My blog is a safe space to share stories, offer real advice, and find support. Together, we can rediscover our power to lead a fulfilling and energized life after 40.

The Photo That Started Everything

Two years ago, at my son Jake's high school graduation, I saw a photo that stopped me cold. The woman in the navy dress, forcing a smile next to my handsome graduate – I barely recognized her. That woman was me, 35 pounds heavier than I'd ever been, exhausted, and utterly defeated.

At 45, I was pre-diabetic, constantly tired, and had accepted that this was just "what happens when you get older." My daughter Emma had started cropping me out of her Instagram posts. My husband David was worried but didn't know how to help. And honestly? I'd given up.

The Journey Back to Me

That graduation photo was my wake-up call. But here's the thing – this isn't another "I discovered this one weird trick" story. This is about a regular mom from Austin, Texas, who finally learned that fighting your body after 40 doesn't work. Working WITH it does.

After years of failed diets (keto lasted 3 weeks, y'all), punishing workouts (my knees still haven't forgiven me), and counting every calorie, I discovered the real issue: my metabolism had fundamentally changed, and I was fighting the wrong battle.

What Changed Everything

Instead of another extreme diet, I dove into research about metabolism after 40. I learned about:

Where I Am Today

At 47, I'm:

  • 28 pounds lighter (took 18 months, not 18 days!)

  • Medication-free (bye-bye, pre-diabetes!)

  • Running 5Ks (this former couch potato!)

  • Keeping up with teenagers (the real victory)

  • Actually enjoying life again

But more importantly, I'm LIVING again. Morning yoga in my pajamas, hiking with David and the kids, chasing our golden retriever Max around the yard, and feeling confident in photos again. No hiding, no strategic angles, just me.
